KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Sushila Karki has said that it is necessary to move forward with restraint and unity, given the country’s current exceptional circumstances.
Speaking at the Maghi Festival organised by the Tharu Kalyankarini Sabha at Tundikhel in Kathmandu on Thursday to mark the Maghi festival, Prime Minister Karki said that indigenous festivals promote mutual respect, unity, harmony, and coexistence. She added that there is an even greater need to proceed in a restrained and united manner in the present context.
Emphasizing the spirit of cultural festivals, she said that the government, communities, and people all have a role to play in their respective capacities to uphold peace, empathy, harmony, and national unity in society.
She also reiterated the government’s continued commitment to the protection and promotion of the Tharu community’s indigenous culture, language, and identity.
Prime Minister Karki also participated in the Maghe Sankranti Festival organised by the Magar community at Tundikhel.
On the occasion, she said that unity amid diversity and pluralism has made Nepal a prosperous, strong, and proud nation.
