We have rejected compromise offers for Lamichhane’s release: Jha

KATHMANDU: Manish Jha, acting spokesperson for the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), claimed that his party rejected compromise offers from leaders of other political parties to secure the release of party president Rabi Lamichhane.

Speaking to journalists on Friday, Jha stated the party has been continuing protest by rejecting such offers. “They proposed various compromises, but we did not accept them,” Jha said.

He also expressed strong opposition to the transfer of DSP Subash Hamal from the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB). Hamal was investigating a cooperative fraud case involving Nepali Congress Vice President Dhanraj Gurung. Jha accused the government of shielding Gurung through such transfers. “When our party president was the Home Minister, Sharma strongly criticized the transfer of an inspector after just eight months. Now, when a key officer investigating a high-profile case is transferred in just three months, he remains silent. Where is he now?” Jha questioned.

Addressing concerns about the party’s ongoing movement, Jha clarified that their protest is continuing in a different form so that the general public is not affected.  “Protesting isn’t just about burning tires and blocking roads. We are carrying out a peaceful movement, engaging various sectors without disrupting daily life. The form may have changed, but our protest is continuing,” he added.
