KATHMANDU: The Communist Party of Nepal (CPN) has stated that it is not satisfied with the activities of the government.
CPN General Secretary Netra Bikram Chand ‘Biplab’ raised questions about the government’s activities in the meeting of the Socialist Front held at the Prime Minister’s Residence in Baluwatar on Wednesday.
“I said in the meeting that the Front has failed to become a dynamic force. We have seen double standards among leaders in the government,” Biplab told reporters after the meeting. “There is a growing tendency to sign agreements but not implement them.”
The Socialist Front is a forum of four political parties following socialist ideals: CPN (Maoist Center), CPN (Unified Socialist), Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP), and CPN.
In the meeting, Biplab also said that the Front has lost momentum. “The motive with which the Socialist Front was formed is no longer there,” he added.
The Front’s meeting will continue on Wednesday evening.
In the meeting, Biplab informed leaders about the arrest warrant issued for leaders of his party, including him. He also demanded that the government implement the three-point agreement reached with the CPN.
The Kathmandu District Court on December 4 issued a 35-day notice for Biplab, Khadga Bahadur Bishwakarma, Hemanta Prakash Oli, Maila Lama, and Raju Karki to surrender to the court.
CPN, which was waging an armed struggle against the government, came into the political mainstream after signing a three-point agreement with the government in March 2021.
In the agreement, the government had agreed to lift a ban on the group, release all their party members and cadres in jail, and drop all cases against them. Similarly, the CPN had agreed to give up all violence and resolve any issues through talks.
