KATHMANDU: Water flow Bagmati River has surpassed the warning level at the Gaurighat water measurement center in Kathmandu.
As of 2:45 pm, the water level at the Gaurighat center has exceeded the alert threshold and continues to rise, the Flood Forecasting Division of the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology said in a statement on Monday.
The division has advised people living in the riverbank areas up to the confluence of Bagmati with Manohara rivers to be cautious due to increasing water levels. Heavy rainfall has occurred in different parts of the Kathmandu Valley since noon.
According to the division, increased flow in the Budhigandaki and Daraundi rivers and nearby streams of Gorkha is also expected due to heavy rains
Likewise, moderate rainfall has occurred in Dhungre, Gobre and surrounding areas of Sindhupalchok. The division has advised caution due to possible water level increases in the Melamchi, Indravati and other small rivers in the district.
