KATHMANDU: Minister for Water Supply Minister Pradip Yadav has claimed that water pipe burst in the Babarmahal area of Kathmandu on Wednesday occurred due to the lack of coordination of Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) with the ministry and its subordinate agencies.
After inspecting the area on Wednesday afternoon, Minister Yadav said that the bulk water distribution system pipe burst and caused flooding while NEA was digging to lay underground electrical cables. “The NEA had always coordinated with us before. This time, they failed to coordinate with the ministry and subordinate agencies.”
Minister Yadav said that he has already directed the chief of Kathmandu Upatyaka Khanepani Limited (KUKL) to immediately repair the pipeline. “We will repair the burst pipe and restore water supply soon,” he added.
Tika Bahadur Chaudhary, chief of the KUKL Project Implementation Directorate, said that the pipe would be repaired and water supply will be restored soon.
The pipe burst had caused flooding in several government buildings in the Babarmahal area, including the Special Court.
