KATHMANDU: Voting has begun to elect new leadership of the CPN-UML as part of the party’s 11th General Convention.
The polling process started after chairperson candidate KP Sharma Oli arrived at the voting venue. Oli and his contender Ishwar Pokhrel cast their ballots to formally kick off the voting.
The polling, which was originally scheduled for Tuesday evening, had been postponed to Wednesday morning due to technical issues. Although voting was slated to begin at 8 am, it started later than scheduled at Bhrikuti Mandap.
General convention representatives, however, had been lining up at the venue since early morning to cast their votes.
Oli and Pokhrel are leading their respective panels in the election.
