Vote counting underway; RSP leading in majority of seats

KATHMANDU: Early results are emerging from several constituencies following Thursday’s House of Representatives elections.

Preliminary results show candidates of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) are leading in a majority of constituencies where counting is underway. The party has so far secured the only seat officially declared, while it is ahead in 47 constituencies where counting is in progress as of 11 am.

Out of 62 constituencies where votes are currently being counted, RSP is leading in 47 seats. The Nepali Congress (NC) is ahead in six constituencies, while the CPN-UML is leading in four seats.

The Nepali Communist Party (NCP) has taken an early lead in three constituencies, while the Shram Sanskriti Party is leading in one seat.

Voting was held across the country to elect 165 members of the House of Representatives through the first-past-the-post system and 110 members under the proportional representation system.
