Vice-chancellor, registrar of Madhesh Agriculture University suspended

KATHMANDU: Vice-chancellor and Registrar of Madhesh Agriculture University have been suspended.

The senate meeting of the Madhesh Agriculture University held in Janakpur on Tuesday decided to suspend Vice-chancellor Dr Baijanath Mahato and Registrar Shribhagwan Thakur, according to Minister for Education and Culture of Madhesh Province Government Rani Sharma Tiwari.

The meeting was chaired by Chief Minister Satish Kumar Singh who is also the chancellor of the university. Singh is from Janamat Party.

The two were appointed to the positions by the previous government led by Saroj Yadav of Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP)-Nepal.

JSP Nepal Chairperson Upendra Yadav had laid the foundation stone for the university building in Rajbiraj of Saptari.

Janamat Party had opposed the decision to make JSP Chair Yadav chief guest of the ceremony.
