
KATHMANDU: Tharu Cultural Exhibition was held in Unnati Cultural Village in Belhani, Nawalparasi West, on Thursday with the theme ‘Tharu Culture, Tharu Cuisine, Our Identity; Tharu Community, Building Entrepreneurship’.
“The event, marked by the enthusiastic participation of the Tharu community from Nawalparasi West, showcased the richness of local culture, traditions, attire, dance, handicrafts and culinary diversity,” according to a statement issued by Unnati Cultural Village.
The event, which was organized by Unnati Cultural Village in collaboration with the Nepal Tharu Association, showcased various stalls highlighting the identity of the Tharu community. “Stalls displaying traditional Tharu homes, handicraft products, clothing, jewelry and products made by local Tharu entrepreneurs were among the main attractions. Traditional Tharu delicacies such as Dhikri, Sidra and Ghonghi drew significant attention from the participants,” the statement added.
Speaking on the occasion, Radheshyam Chaudhary, chairperson of the main organizing committee, said programs like these play a vital role in keeping Tharu culture alive and vibrant.
The event was held in the initiation of Member of the House of Representatives Binod Chaudhary. Speaking on the occasion, Chaudhary said all ethnicities and their traditions are the identity of Nepal and Nepalis. “Preserving and promoting Tharu culture will elevate tourism and the economy of Nawalparasi to new heights,” he added.
