KATHMANDU: CPN (Unified Socialist) has failed to get national party status by 18,411 votes.
As per the final counting results of proportional representation (PR) votes published by the Election Commission on Tuesday, only the parties getting 3% of the 10,560,067 total valid votes, or 316,802, will become a national party.
Unified Socialist received 298,391 PR votes. This means it will not be able to send its lawmakers to the parliament under the PR system.
The party, however, has won 10 seats under FPTP voting.
Unified Socialist split from CPN-UML under the leadership of Madhav Kumar Nepal.
