Unified Socialist decides to vote against ordinances

KATHMANDU: CPN (Unified Socialist) has decided to vote against the ordinances introduced by the government.

The Standing Committee meeting of the party held at the party office in Aloknagar, Kathmandu, on Tuesday concluded that the introduction of ordinances by bypassing parliament was inappropriate.

Prakash Jwala, chief of the party’s publicity department, said after the meeting that it was procedurally wrong for the government to introduce ordinances while violating the constitution, laws parliamentary regulations, and established practices, especially without withdrawing bills already under discussion. “The meeting also decided to call on the government to take necessary diplomatic steps to investigate the incident involving Nepali students at a campus in Odisha, India, ensure punishment for those responsible, and guarantee safety of Nepali students,” Jwala added.

The meeting also approved the chairman’s political report, party regulations, bylaws, directives, code of conduct, and upcoming action plans for party building.
