KATHMANDU: CPN (Unified Socialist) has decided to downsize its central committee of 199 members.
The Central Council meeting of the party held in Kathmandu on Monday decided that the party will have a 199-member central committee with 17 office-bearers.
The party had earlier decided to reduce the size of the central committee to 175 members.
Unified Socialist presently has a 351-member executive committee with 24 office-bearers.
The party has decided to reserve 20% of the central committee members for leaders aged below 40. It has also decided that all office-bearers and central committee members will have to be elected by the general convention.
Unified Socialist has said that there will be two structures under the central committee – standing committee and politburo. According to the party, the provincial committees can have 75-99 members and seven office-bearers – Chairman, two Vice Chairpersons, Secretary, and three Deputy Secretaries.
