KATHMANDU: The CPN (Unified Socialist) has decided not to initiate a merger with other parties for the time being.
The ongoing Standing Committee meeting of the party has concluded that unity with other parties is unlikely until there is consensus on principles and ideological direction.
The meeting also endorsed a political proposal presented by General Secretary Ghanashyam Bhusal. The proposal outlines the party’s future programs and policies.
The party also decided to strengthen its organizational structure and field candidates nationwide in the upcoming elections.
The meeting, which began on December 11, has now concluded deliberations on formulating the party’s future action plan. According to Vice-chairperson Jagannath Khatiwada, the party plans to launch the ‘Party with the People in Villages’ campaign to strengthen its organizational reach.
He added that the meeting is set to endorse a proposal on the work division of leaders presented by task force led by party Chairperson Madhav Kumar Nepal. “Preparations are underway to assign capable leaders, who have contributed to organizational and political activities in the past, to departments and as in-charges of affiliated organizations,” Khatiwada added.
Former Prime Minister Jhalanath Khanal, who could not attend the meeting due to health issues, submitted a written document to the meeting.
