KATHMANDU: CPN-UML’s Rajendra Singh Rawal has been appointed as the Chief Minister of the Sudurpashchim Province Government.
Rawal had made a claim for the government earlier on Wednesday with the support of 29 lawmakers from CPN-UML, CPN (Maoist Center), Nagarik Unmukti Party and Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP).
Province Chief Devraj Joshi appointed Rawal as per Article 1658 (2) of the Constitution of Nepal.
UML and Maoist Center have forged an understanding to lead the province government on a rotating basis. As per the agreement, UML will hand over the reins of the province government to Maoist Center after two and half years.

Rawal is the second chief minister of Sudurpashchim Province. Maoist Center’s Trilochan Bhatta completed his five-year term after the 2017 election.
