UML’s Raghuji Pant appointed education minister

KATHMANDU: President Ram Chandra has appointed Raghuji Pant of CPN-UML as the Minister for Education, Science and Technology.

Issuing a statement on Wednesday evening, the Office of the President said Pant has been appointed as the minister on the recommendation of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli as per Article 76 (9) of the Constitution of Nepal, 2015.

President Paudel has also removed Purna Bahadur Tamang as the Minister of State for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation from the cabinet on the recommendation of the Prime Minister.

Pant replaces Bidya Bhattarai who tendered her resignation on Monday amid the Kathmandu-centric protest of school teachers demanding immediate enactment of the School Education Bill.

PM Oli removed Minister of State Tamang on the recommendation of the Nepali Congress.
