KATHMANDU: Kumar Dasaudi of CPN-UML has been elected to one vacant seat in National Assembly from Lumbini Province.
Dasaudi, who was the common candidate of the seven-party ruling coalition, defeated Madhav Prasad Acharya of Nepali Congress and Rajendra Bikram Raya of Nagarik Unmukti Party.
Although Nagarik Unmukti is a ruling coalition partner, it had fielded its candidate in the election. The party is miffed with the government for not addressing its demands.
Dasaudi received 4,026 electoral votes. NC’s Acharya and Nagarik Unmukti’s Raya received 3,720 and 192 electoral votes, respectively.
As per the Constitution of Nepal, eight members each are elected from seven provinces to the National Assembly.
