UML’s decides to correct Thapa’s statement

KATHMANDU: The CPN-UML has revised the remarks made by its parliamentary party leader Ram Bahadur Thapa in the meeting of the House of Representatives on Thursday.

A meeting of the party’s Central Secretariat held at the party office in Chyasal on Friday decided to correct the statement, according to UML General Secretary Shankar Pokharel.

Thapa himself chaired the meeting. He has been serving as the acting chairperson of the party following the arrest of Chairperson KP Sharma Oli.

“The meeting held a serious discussion on the address delivered by the parliamentary party leader in the meeting of the House of Representatives,” Pokharel said in a statement issued on Friday evening. “The meeting clarified that our party maintains its existing and friendly relations with the Nepali Army and all state security agencies, the civil service, established in accordance with the Constitution and prevailing laws, as well as the international community. ”
According to Pokharel, the meeting also reaffirmed its commitment to further strengthen these relations in the future.

Several UML leaders, including Vice Chairperson Bishnu Prasad Paudel, Deputy General Secretary Yogesh Bhattarai, and former Vice Chairperson Surendra Pandey, had objected to Thapa’s address to the House.
