KATHMANDU: Ambar Bahadur Rayamajhi of CPN-UML has been elected to the House of Representatives from the Udayapur-2 constituency.

Rayamajhi defeated Jagannath Khatiwada of CPN (Unified Socialist) by 2,358 votes. While Rayamajhi received 15,251 votes, Khatiwada polled 12,893 votes.

Khatiwada – the spokesperson for the Unified Socialist –  contested the election as the common candidate of the five-party ruling coalition. Likewise, Bhaskar Rai of Mongol Naional Organization and Anil Kumar Shrestha of Rastriya Swatantra Party received 1,430 and 910 votes, respectively.
