UML withdrawing support from Dahal’s govt on Thursday CPN-UML Chief Whip Mahesh Bartaula

KATHMANDU: CPN-UML has decided to withdraw support extended to Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal.

UML’s Chief Whip Mahesh Bartaula said party leaders will meet Prime Minister Dahal to inform him about the decision on Thursday. “We had requested the Prime Minister to pave the way for forming a national government by Wednesday,” Bartaula said. “Since the PM’s resignation did not come, we have decided to withdraw our support.”

Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba and UML Chairperson KP Sharma Oli reached an agreement to form a new alliance in Kathmandu on Monday night. As per the agreement, Oli to lead the government for the first one and a half years and NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba will become Prime Minister until the election.

The two parties have formally approved the agreement and requested PM Dahal to step down to pave the way for a new government.
