KATHMANDU: CPN-UML Secretary and House of Representatives candidate from Bhaktapur-2, Mahesh Basnet, has claimed that the party will secure an impressive victory in the upcoming elections.
Speaking at an interaction in Kathmandu on Wednesday, Basnet claimed that the UML would win at least 10 out of the 15 seats in the Kathmandu Valley.
In the 2022 elections, the UML had won only two seats in the Valley—Kathmandu-9 and Lalitpur-2.
Out of 15 seats in Kathmandu Valley, Kathmandu has 10, while Lalitpur and Bhaktapur have three and two seats, respectively.
“Voters in the Kathmandu Valley tend to change their choices in every election. The incidents of September 8 and 9 have helped voters here to identify “forces that burnt the country,” he added.
Basnet also alleged that the current government was siding with the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) and attacking democratic forces.
