KATHMANDU: CPN-UML Chairperson KP Sharma Oli has said that the reinstatement of the House of Representatives is necessary to bring the country back on the constitutional path.
Speaking at an interaction organised by the UML’s Education and Human Resource Department in Kathmandu on Friday, Oli accused the current government of dissolving the House unconstitutionally and said that the restoration of parliament was necessary to return the nation to constitutional order.
He called on all to unite and intensify the movement demanding the reinstatement of the dissolved House of Representatives. “When the interim government was being formed, I had written to the President calling for adherence to constitutional procedures,” Oli added.
Oli made it clear that no UML representative participated in the discussions on interim government formation at the Office of the President. “Therefore, UML objects to the formation of the government under a former Chief Justice and the dissolution of the House,” he added.
The former prime minister also accused the interim government—formed through what he described as force and vandalism—of continuing unconstitutional activities. “UML, which had never bowed to wrongful forces, would likewise not yield to the unconstitutional government established through a two-day movement,” he added.
