The two-day National Representative Council meeting of the party held in Godavari, Lalitpur, passed a 15-point proposal on Sunday, expressing satisfaction over the formation of a new coalition. It also pledged to make the coalition successful and result-oriented.
According to UML Deputy General Secretary Bishnu Rimal, the meeting urged the party leadership for the implementation of the common minimum program of the five ruling parties in a scheduled and effective manner to address the main problems facing the country.
Rimal added that the meeting made a clarion call to avoid anything that would weaken the new coalition and remain vigilant against any actions that would push the country further into instability and uncertainty.
“The meeting urged the government to dispel the despair seen in society due to economic downturn, corruption and mismanagement in state governance,” Rimal said, adding that the government should present itself uncompromisingly against corruption and make everyone believe through its actions that everyone is equal in the eyes of the law.
Rimal also said that the meeting demanded that the government conduct an impartial investigation into the problems and mismanagement observed in cooperatives, bring the culprits to book and create an environment for the return of savings of common people.
