KATHMANDU: CPN-UML has decided to field Bimala Ghimire in the election for the National Assembly Vice Chairperson.
The National Assembly is holding a vote to elect its vice chairperson on April 10.
The position became vacant with the resignation of Urmila Aryal of CPN (Maoist Center) following the election of Narayan Prasad Dahal of her party to the position of National Assembly Chairperson.
Although the Maoist Center, CPN-UML, Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), and Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) initially reached an understanding to elect a UML National Assembly member to the position of vice chairperson, leaders of CPN (Unified Socialist), which joined the ruling coalition later on, are claiming that there is an understanding to elect their member to the position.
Unified Socialist has yet to select its candidate for the position.
