KATHMANDU: The CPN-UML parliamentary party in the Bagmati Province Assembly has issued a whip to its members to vote in favour of Chief Minister Indra Bahadur Baniya’s confidence motion.
Chief Whip Eklal Shrestha issued the whip on Sunday, instructing UML provincial assembly members to attend Tuesday’s assembly session without fail and support the motion.
The Bagmati Province Assembly Secretariat has scheduled the vote of confidence for 4 pm on Tuesday.
UML’s provincial assembly members have also been instructed to attend a parliamentary party meeting before the vote at 1 pm.
The Nepali Congress (NC) has already instructed its provincial assembly members to back the motion.
The NC–UML coalition has been leading the Bagmati Province Government since July last year. The coalition has 64 seats in the 110-member assembly.
Baniya was appointed chief minister last Tuesday after replacing party colleague Bahadur Singh Lama as leader of the parliamentary party.
