KATHMANDU: CPN-UML Secretary Gokarna Bista has said that the party is in need of a leadership transition and transformation.
Speaking at an interaction in Kathmandu on Wednesday in the run-up to the 11th General Convention, Bista said both the country and the party are facing a crisis, making it necessary to transfer and transform leadership.
He said that his group, led by Ishwar Pokharel, will compete in the convention. According to him, the party now needs leadership capable of rising above the status quo and confronting new challenges.
Bista added that the party’s new leadership should be chosen with unity and consensus under the guidance of the “People’s Multiparty Democracy”.
The UML is holding its 11th General Convention in Kathmandu on December 13-15.
