KATHMANDU: CPN-UML has expelled its standing committee members Ghanashyam Bhusal and Prabhu Sah and 12 other leaders.
The meeting of the party’s Secretariat Committee held at party headquarters on Saturday took the decision to this extent.
According to the party, the leaders were expelled from party membership after finding that they worked against the party’s official candidates in the November 20 election.
Bhusal and Sah contested as independent candidates in the election.
According to the party, it has taken action against central committee members Upendra Sah and Kundan Kushbaha of Rautahat, Rampreet Sah of Siraha, Badri Neupane and Rita Sah of Sarlahi, Ganga Chaudhary of Dang and Tek Bahadur Balampaki Magar of Mahottari. Other party leaders facing the axe include Bandi Sherpa of Taplejung, Khem Subedi and Bhakta Bahadur Adhikari of Kanchanpur, Laxmi Sah of Kailali and Jainab Khatun who was in the party’s closed list of candidates under proportional representation (PR) system.
Khatun’s name has been removed from the closed list.
