KATHMANDU: CPN-UML Chief Whip, Mahesh Bartaula, has criticised the opposition’s decision to obstruct Parliament while demanding the resignation of Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak.
Talking to reporters on Tuesday, he called the move “unparliamentary and apolitical”, stating that the current investigation by the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) is on the government employees, not the minister himself. “It is inappropriate to hold a minister accountable for alleged misconduct by staff, especially when many government employees across the country are already under investigation or facing action,” he added.
Commenting on the visit visa scam, Bartaula said UML supports action against any employees found guilty. “No one found guilty will be spared. However, it will be premature to draw conclusions now,” he added.
