KATHMANDU: CPN-UML Chairperson KP Sharma Oli has staked his claim to form a new government.
Oli, accompanied by Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba and other leaders of the two parties, submitted his claim to President Ram Chandra Paudel late Friday evening.
Earlier, President Paudel invited parties to form a new government as per Article 76 (2) by 5 pm on Sunday.
The President called for parties to form a government after Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal failed to get a vote of confidence in the House of Representatives on Friday.
The NC and UML together have 167 seats in the 275-member House of Representatives. Support of 138 members is needed in the lower house to form a government.
