Two US nationals who escaped prison arrested

KATHMANDU: Police have arrested two US citizens who had escaped from prison while serving sentences in child sexual abuse and rape cases.

The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of the Nepal Police apprehended Michael Norman Taylor, who was serving time at the Kaski District Prison for a child sexual abuse case, and Jason Lloyd Moody, who was imprisoned at the Central Jail, Kathmandu, for a rape case, on Monday.

CIB Deputy Spokesperson DSP Dharma Raj Bhandari said that Michael was serving his sentence under the order of the Kaski District Court, while Jason was imprisoned under the order of the Kathmandu District Court.

Both had escaped during the Gen Z protest in Kathmandu and several cities on September 8 and 9.

A team of CIB arrested the two from Maharajgunj in Kathmandu-3 and handed them over to their respective prisons.
