ITAHARI: Two boys drowned while swimming in a river in Itahari Sub-Metropolitan City–2 on Sunday afternoon.
According to police, the incident occurred while the boys were swimming in the Tengra River near Sukalp Bhawan in Itahari–2.
“Locals saw the boys drowning at around 2:50 pm and immediately informed police. A police team, with the help of locals, rescued both boys and rushed them to BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences (BPKIHS) in Dharan,” DSP Laxmi Bhandari of the Area Police Office, Itahari, said. “However, the two passed away while undergoing treatment at around 4 pm.”
The deceased have been identified as Kribas Limbu (11) and Dipson Chaudhary (8) of Itahari–3. Kribas, originally from Chainpur-1 of Sankhuwasabha, had been staying at his aunt’s house in Itahari-2.
Police said further investigation into the incident is underway.
