POKHARA: The Gandaki Province Government has split two ministries to accommodate more members in the province cabinet.
A cabinet meeting held on Sunday decided to split the Ministry of Forest, Environment and Industry, and Tourism, and the Ministry of Social Development and Health. With this, the number of ministries in the province has reached nine.
Chief Minister Surendra Raj Pandey is preparing to induct four members of CPN-UML into his cabinet.
Pandey revamped his cabinet following the formation of a new coalition of Nepali Congress and UML in the center. The two parties also decided to form coalition governments in all seven provinces.
Chief Minister Pandey, however, said that Fanindra Devkota of Nepal Samajbadi Party (NSP) and Independent Province Assembly Member Rajiv Gurung aka Deepak Manange will continue to be a part of his cabinet.
Devkota and Gurung earlier supported Pandey to form a government in the province.
