BUTWAL: Land Revenue Officer Ghanshyam Aryal of the Butwal Land Revenue Office has been arrested on the charge of issuing and distributing fake land ownership certificates.

The District Police Office, Rupandehi, arrested Aryal along with Sanjay Kumar Kewat, a staff member at the Bhairahawa Land Revenue Office, on Friday for alleged misuse of the government seal to produce forged land documents.

According to DSP Ganesh Sapkota, the spokesperson for the Rupandehi police, said arrests are linked to old cases. Preliminary investigations suggest that several other land revenue employees were also involved and are currently at large.

Police have said that the incidents of forgery in Butwal and Bhairahawa are separate cases. Several other land office employees are under investigation in connection with the scam.

Specific details about the land plots have not been made public since the investigation is ongoing. Based on initial information, the suspects are believed to have created fake ownership certificates for government land and sold them for large sums of money.
