KATHMANDU: Two inmates were killed after Nepal Army personnel opened fire during a clash at Ramechhap District Prison on Wednesday.
According to the Nepal Army, the clash occurred when the prisoners attempted to break out of the prison, demanding that they be allowed to return home. Twelve inmates were injured in the incident.
The details of the deceased have not been made public yet.
Similarly, army personnel have taken under control 192 inmates who were trying to flee from Saptari District Prison in Rajbiraj.
Likewise, Seema Suraksha Bal (SSB) of India has arrested seven inmates, who were trying to enter India from Chandani of Kanchanpur, and handed them over to the Nepal Army. One inmate was taken into control by the locals and handed over to the police, while 12 inmates returned voluntarily to the Kanchanpur District Prison.
So far, 94 firearms have been recovered from different parts of the country, according to the army.
