KATHMANDU: Police have arrested two individuals on the charge of involvement in the illegal transfer of money, locally known as Hundi.

A team deployed by the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office arrested Bhimsen Gautam (39) of Kavre and Raju Gautam (42) of Chitwan from the Mahabouddha area of Kathmandu Metropolitan City-22 on Thursday evening.

Police also recovered Rs 800,000 from Bhimsen, and Rs 575,000 and 17 checks for Rs 797,000 issued by different banks and financial institutions from Raju’s Radhakrishna General Store.

According to the police, the two were arrested based on a tip-off.

The two have been sent to District Police Range, Kathmandu, for further investigation.
