Two die as ambulances are stuck in road for hours

KATHMANDU: Two patients being transported to Kathmandu from Sindhuli have died in their ambulances due to road obstructions.

According to DSP Anil Kumar Khadka of the District Police Office, Sindhuli, the patients died as two ambulances – from Sindhuli District Hospital and another that came from Bardibas of Mahottari – remained stuck on the BP Highway while en route to Kathmandu.

The deceased have been identified as Tikakumari Bhujel (98) from Mallagaun in Kamalamai Municipality-4 of Sindhuli and Man Bahadur Sinjali (45) from Bardibas Municipality-8 of Mahottari.

Bhujel was suffering from a respiratory condition, while Sinjali had kidney ailments.

The BP Highway has been blocked for four days in the Dumja area of Sunkoshi Rural Municipality-1 due to floods and landslides. Since motor vehicles have not been able to ply the road, authorities have been unable to hand over the bodies to their families.
