POKHARA: Two people died and 12 others were injured in a jeep accident in Lamjung district on Saturday.
According to Abhishek Pandey, information officer of the District Police Office, Lamjung, the jeep, heading to Chhinkhola from district headquarters, Besishahar, met with an accident at Ustabesi in Marsyangdi-7.
The deceased have been identified as Gangamaya Gurung (40) and Pushpa Ghale (35), both residents of Usta. They were declared dead by doctors at the Gandaki Provincial Hospital.
Three of the injured, Bimala Devi Ghale (40), Rita Gurung (33), and Safal Gurung (7), are in critical condition. They have been referred to Chitwan for further treatment, police say.
The remaining injured are receiving treatment at the provincial hospital.
The jeep plunged some 50 meters off the road, police say.
