KATHMANDU: A task force formed to resolve controversial issues in the transitional justice bill has submitted its report to the senior leaders of three major political parties.
Home Minister and Nepali Congress (NC) lawmaker Ramesh Lekhak presented the report to Prime Minister and CPN-UML Chairperson KP Sharma Oli during a ceremony at the Prime Minister’s Office on Tuesday. NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba and CPN (Maoist Center) Chairperson Pushpa Kamal Dahal were also present on the occasion.
The task force, which comprised Lekhak, UML Chief Whip Mahesh Bartaula, and Maoist Center Deputy General Secretary Janardan Sharma, has resolved all contentious issues in the Bill to Amend the Enforced Disappearances Inquiry, Truth and Reconciliation Commission Act.
Then Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal registered the Bill in parliament in March 2023.
