JANAKPURDHAM: A traffic police personnel died in a road accident in Janakpurdham on Monday.
DSP Ganesh Bahadur Bam, spokesperson for the District Police Office, Dhanusha, told Himal Press that Head Constable Chandrakala Mahato (26) of Bardibas, Mahottari, died when a tipper truck hit a motorcycle at Bishwakarma Chowk in Janakpurdham-4 on Monday afternoon. Mahato, who was riding pillion on the motorcycle, was rushed to a hospital for treatment. However, doctors declared her dead on arrival.
Police Inspector Bijaya Kumar Yadav, who was driving the motorcycle, sustained minor injuries in the accident, according to DSP Bam.
Head Constable Mahato was deployed at the District Traffic Police Office, Mahottari. She had come to Janakpurdham to withdraw funds from the Janakpurdham office of the Employees Provident Fund.
