KATHMANDU: The Parliamentary Hearing Committee has unanimously endorsed Toyam Raya’s nomination for the position of Auditor General.
Committee chairperson Pashupati Shumsher JBR announced on Tuesday that the committee endorsed Raya’s nomination unopposed.
The endorsement of the nomination by the hearing committee has paved the way for the appointment of Raya as the country’s next Auditor General. President Ram Chandra Poudel will now appoint Raya to the position.
During the parliamentary hearing, Raya had presented a 15-page work plan and expressed commitment to reduce government arrears.
A meeting of the Constitutional Council held on March 31 had nominated Raya to fill the vacant position of Auditor General.
He previously served as the secretary of the National Statistics Office and the Ministry of Finance.
The position of Auditor General has been lying vacant since Tanka Mani Sharma completed his term in April last year.
