
ITAHARI: Three people have been injured after a Royal Bengal tiger entered the Fattepur settlement in Saptakoshi Municipality in Saptari and attacked residents on Monday morning.
According to Inspector Udaya Kumar Rai of the District Police Office, Saptari, Krishna Bista (43), Ganesh Khatri (55), and Rijana Gosain were injured in the incident.
A police team from Fattepur and officials of Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve reached the incident site after receiving information about a tiger attack from the locals.
Birendra Gautam from the Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve Office confirmed that the tiger had come from the reserve area. “A technical team from the reserve, including Nepal Army personnel and forest office staff, are assessing the situation on-site,” he added. “We are now at the incident site. Hundreds of people have gathered here.”
Gautam said efforts were being made to return the tiger to the forest area.
Inspector Rai said the situation in Raktamala and Khoriya neighborhoods of Saptakoshi Municipality has become tense following the tiger attack.
