KATHMANDU: The government has decided to add three representatives from the private sector to the high-level commission formed to advise the government on various economic reforms.
A cabinet meeting held on Thursday decided to include Chandra Prasad Dhakal, president of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry; Rajesh Kumar Agrawal, president of the Confederation of Nepali Industries; and Kamlesh Kumar Agrawal, president of the Nepal Chamber of Commerce in the commission.
The commission is led by former finance secretary Rameshwar Khanal.
The government has decided to nominate Purna Bahadur Nepali from Buddhabhumi Municipality-2 of Kapilvastu as Nepal’s ambassador to Sri Lanka.
Similarly, the cabinet has decided to approve the acquisition of 36.32 hectares of land for the Dharan-Kerabari-Letang-Madhumalla Road.
According to Minister for Communication and Information Technology Prithvi Subba Gurung, who is also the government spokesperson, the government has decided to accept a grant of 11.34 million Swiss francs (approximately Rs 1.76 million) from the Swiss government for Safer Migration (SaMi) Project.
“The cabinet has decided that the Citizen Savings Bond worth Rs 2 billion, to be issued by the Public Debt Management Office by mid-December of the current fiscal year, will have a tenure of five years and an interest rate of 7.5%. Similarly, the Foreign Employment Savings Bond worth Rs 500 million, to be issued by the same office, will also have a tenure of five years with an interest rate of 8.5%,” Gurung added.
