Three convicted for the murder of Dilip Mahato

JANAKPURDHAM: District Court, Dhanusha, has convicted three people charge-sheeted by the police for the murder of Dilip Mahato three years ago.

Dilip (24) of Mithila Municipality-5 had been protesting against the illegal extraction of river materials in the area.

A single bench of Judge Chitra Bahadur Gurung convicted the main accused Bipin Kumar Mahato and Munintra Mahato, and accomplice Munindra Mahato.

The district court, however, acquitted four others charge-sheeted by the police, Bikas Basnet, the registrar at the district court. They include Shatrughan Mahato, Satyanarayan Mahato, Binod Mahato and Roshan Kumar Yadav.

The district court will sentence the convicts on February 24.
