This coalition won’t last long: Dahal

POKHARA: CPN (Maoist Center) Chairperson Pushpa Kamal Dahal has said that the current ruling coalition will not last long.

Concluding a two-day provincial consultation meeting in Pokhara on Monday, Dahal said this coalition won’t continue for long and that they (Nepali Congress and CPN-UML) will eventually come to the Maoist Center.

According to a Maoist Center leader, Dahal briefed them in the meeting that the current priority is to connect with the people, build the party, and focus on ideological development rather than joining the government.

Dahal said that the country has moved forward in a new direction with the passage of the transitional justice-related Bill. “This has opened doors to honor and compensate families of martyrs and missing warriors,” he said in the meeting, according to the leader.

Stating that those who sacrificed their lives during the People’s War have now attained the status of national martyrs, Dahal said the party’s priority now is building party organization and ideological development.

He claimed that the Maoist Center remains a significant force in the country and that other parties cannot protect national independence and current achievements.

Senior Maoist Center leaders including Senior Vice Chairperson Narayan Kaji Shrestha, Vice-Chairpersons Agni Prasad Sapkota and Pampha Bhusal, General Secretary Dev Prasad Gurung, Deputy General Secretaries Barsha Man Pun, Janardan Sharma, Giriraj Mani Pokharel, Haribol Gajurel, Shakti Bahadur Basnet and Dinanath Sharma also addressed the meeting which saw the participation of central committee members and provincial committee members based in Gandaki Province.
