KATHMANDU: Seven new passenger electric vehicles (EVs) were unveiled on the opening day of the NAIMA Nepal Mobility Expo which kicked off in Kathmandu on Wednesday.
The lineup includes five SUVs, one hatchback, and one multipurpose vehicle (MPV), highlighting the growing variety and consumer appeal of EVs in the domestic automobile market.
Of the seven models, five are manufactured in China and two in India by one company. This reflects the growing dominance of Chinese EV makers in India.
Given below are the brief introductions to these cars, along with their prices.
BYD Atto 1
Price: Rs 2.895 million – Rs 3.295 million

Cimex Inc, the authorized BYD distributor in Nepal, has unveiled the affordable Atto 1 in the Nepali market. The compact hatchback is sold in China as Seagull, Dolphin Surf in Europe and Atto 1 in Southeast Asia. The Atto 1 is available in two variants: Dynamic (short-range) and Premium (Long-range). The Dynamic is priced at Rs 2.895 million, while the Premium variant will cost Rs 3.295 million. Both variants are powered by a 45 kW motor.
Mahindra BE 6
Price: Rs 5.7 million – Rs 6.7 million

Positioned as a premium mid-size EV, the BE 6 is available in three variants—Pack One at Rs 5.7 million, Pack Two at Rs 6 million and Pack Three at Rs 6.7 million. Designed on Mahindra’s dedicated INGLO platform, the BE 6 features a striking and futuristic aesthetic with sharp body lines, flush-fitting door handles, full LED lighting, and 19-inch alloy wheels. It has a 59 kWh battery that supports up to 175 kW DC fast charging. The car has a wheelbase of 2775 mm and ground clearance of 207 mm, making it a practical option for varied road conditions. It also offers 455 liters of boot space.
Mahindra XEV 9e
Price: Starts from Rs 6.75 million

Mahindra introduced the XEV 9e to the Nepali market following successful trials and positive feedback in India. Positioned to compete with leading Chinese EV brands, the XEV 9e brings together Mahindra’s legacy of rugged engineering and wide service support. It offers two battery options—a 59 kWh pack with 400 km range and a 79 kWh pack capable of delivering over 550 km on a single charge. The vehicle supports up to 175 kW DC fast charging. The XEV 9e boasts a tech-rich cabin with three 12.3-inch displays, 16 speakers and a 1400-watt Harman Kardon sound system. The SUV is available in two motor options—99 kW and 199 kW—
Forthing Friday
Price: Starts from Rs 4.896 million

Dongfeng’s Forthing brand officially debuted in Nepal on Wednesday with the launch of its all-electric Friday SUV. The vehicle enters the market with a starting price of Rs 4.896 million, while the top-end variant is priced at Rs 5.496 million. The SUV is powered by a 64.4 kWh battery paired with a 99 kW motor that delivers 174 Nm of torque. It supports AC charging up to 11 kW and DC fast charging up to 80 kW. Its 185 mm ground clearance and 2,715 mm wheelbase also make it well-suited for Nepali roads.
Leapmotor B10
Price: Starts from Rs 4.999 million

The B10 is the third Leapmotor in Nepal after the bigger C10 SUV and the T03 hatchback. Distributed by Shangrila Motors, the B10 aims to strengthen Leapmotor’s position in Nepal’s competitive EV market. The B10 is available in two variants—the base model priced at Rs 4.999 million and the top-end variant at Rs 5.699 million. Both versions feature a 160 kW rear-wheel drive motor delivering 240 Nm of torque, but differ in battery capacity. The top variant is equipped with a 67.1 kWh battery, while the base variant includes a 56.2 kWh unit. Both support 11 kW AC charging and 168 kW DC fast charging, making them convenient for everyday use. Leapmotor claims the top variant can deliver a range of up to 460 kilometers in urban conditions.
Jaecoo J5
Price: Rs 5.699 million

The Jaecoo J5, which officially entered the Nepali market on Wednesday, is priced at Rs 6.099 million, with a special Rs 400,000 cash discount under the NAIMA Offer. This effectively brings the price down to Rs 5.699 million. Built for performance and sophistication, the Jaecoo J5 features a 155 kW front-wheel-drive motor paired with a 58 kWh LFP battery, delivering a claimed range of approximately 400 kilometers on a single charge. Packed with ADAS Level 2 safety features, including adaptive cruise control and emergency braking, the J5 also boasts smart tech like OTA updates, remote functions, and intelligent climate control.
Maxus MIFA 7
Price: Rs 12.5 million

The Maxus MIFA 7 is a premium all-electric MPV designed to cater to EV buyers seeking luxury, spaciousness, and modern technology. The seven-seater MPV is priced at Rs 12.5 million, but comes with a flat Rs 1 million cash discount for bookings made during the expo. Powered by a 90 kWh battery, the MIFA 7 offers a maximum range of 635 km (WLTP). It is powered by a 180 kW motor delivering 350 Nm of torque. Notable highlights in the luxury MPV include electric sliding doors, Level 2 ADAS features like lane-keep assist and adaptive cruise control, 360-degree camera, panoramic sunroof, massage seats, and dual 12.3-inch displays.
