KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress General Secretary and Member of the House of Representatives, Gagan Kumar Thapa, has demanded the immediate return of savings stuck in the troubled cooperatives to the rightful depositors.

Speaking during the zero hour of the House of Representatives on Sunday, Thapa emphasized the need to implement the report submitted by a task force that was formed to study and suggest measures to resolve the issues faced by victims of cooperatives. “Finding a long-term solution to this problem is essential. However, it is even more crucial to release the savings of the general public stuck in cooperatives,” Thapa said, calling for immediate implementation of the task force’s recommendations to address the problem effectively.

Expressing concerns about the protest of cooperative victims, Thapa said the state should listen to their grievances. He pointed out that these individuals are suffering not only due to the actions of the cooperatives but also because of the state’s negligence.

Thapa further criticized the monitoring agencies responsible for overseeing cooperatives, stating that they failed to fulfill their duties responsibly.
