KATHMANDU: Police have identified the man who allegedly killed a teenage girl in Janakpurdham by attacking her with a sharp weapon on Monday night.
According to SP Narahari Regmi, the chief of the District Police Office, Dhanusha, the attacker has been identified as Rambabu Sah (35) of Ichhapur in Kshireshwarnath Municipality-9. “He is currently on the run. We have mobilized teams to arrest him,” Regmi added.
Ashadevi and Radha, who were also injured in the attack, are receiving treatment at the provincial hospital.
Anjali Yadav (15) was attacked at her rented apartment in Masjid Tole, where she had been living with her mother Ashadevi (36) and sister Radha (14), in Janakpurdham-4 at around 12:15 am. She was declared dead at the provincial hospital in Janakpur at around 12:30 am.
The motive behind the attack remains unclear.
“We have not been able to record Ashadevi’s statement as she is unconscious. Further details will come after the suspect is arrested,” Regmi said.
