Suspended Senior Divisional Engineer Pokharel found dead

KATHMANDU: Suspended Senior Divisional Engineer Nabin Kumar Pokharel, who was convicted by the Special Court for corruption in the Security Printing Press procurement scam, has been found dead.

According to SP Ajay KC of the District Police Office Bhaktapur, Pokharel’s body was found hanging in his home in Bhaktapur on Thursday evening.

Police have also recovered a suicide note from the scene.

Pokharel was among the four convicted by the Special Court. He was sentenced to six months in prison and fined Rs 58.45 million.

A division bench of Special Court Chairperson Tek Narayan Kunwar and Member Murai Babu Shrestha handed down the sentence.
