KATHMANDU: Road widening works are currently underway on the Suryabinayak-Dhulikhel section of the Arniko Highway in Bhaktapur district.
This infrastructure project, which commenced in February of the previous year, aims to transform the 15.5-kilometer stretch into a modern four-lane carriageway like the Koteshwar-Suryabinayak road section in three years.
The construction works are erecting support walls along the left side of the road, while simultaneously constructing culverts and drainage systems. Additionally, earthwork is underway at various locations.
The widening work is being implemented by dividing the road section into two parts. The contract for Suryabinayak-Sanga stretch, spanning 7.1 kilometers, has been awarded for Rs 3.88 billion, while the Sanga-Dhulikhel stretch, spanning 8.4 kilometers, was awarded to the contractor for Rs 4.05 billion, according to the Department of Roads.
