KATHMANDU: IHG Hotels & Resorts has signed a management agreement with Club Chaulani Ltd to develop a Holiday Inn hotel in Dhangadhi of Nepal’s Sudurpashchim Province.
The 115-room Holiday Inn Dhangadhi is scheduled to open in the first quarter of 2028 and will be part of a mixed-use development located around 8.5 kilometres from Dhangadhi Airport.
Situated close to the India–Nepal border, the hotel is expected to cater to business travelers, government officials, and transit guests, as well as leisure visitors traveling to nearby destinations such as Shuklaphanta National Park, Ghodaghodi Lake, and the Shivpuri Temple.
Sudeep Jain, managing director for South West Asia at IHG Hotels & Resorts, said Dhangadhi represents an emerging hospitality market supported by improving infrastructure, cross-border trade, and growing domestic travel. “The signing of Holiday Inn Dhangadhi reflects our confidence in the city’s growth potential,” Jain said. “The hotel will cater to this demand by serving both the rising domestic travel segment and regional business traffic, ensuring strong returns for our partners at Club Chaulani.”
The five-star property will feature four food and beverage outlets, including an all-day dining restaurant, a poolside bar and a specialty dining venue. It will also offer meeting and event facilities, including flexible function rooms and a ballroom. Additional amenities will include a fully equipped fitness centre and a swimming pool, according to the company.
Club Chaulani Chairperson Dr Rajendra KC said the partnership with IHG would introduce internationally branded hospitality to a city that is increasingly emerging as a commercial and tourism gateway in western Nepal. “As Dhangadhi continues to grow, there is a clear opportunity for high-quality branded hospitality,” KC said. “We look forward to delivering a welcoming and reliable stay experience backed by IHG’s global expertise and strong brand standards.”
IHG Hotels & Resorts currently operates 51 hotels across six brands in India and has a pipeline of 80 additional properties expected to open over the next three to five years. Earlier this month, the group also announced plans to introduce its Vignette Collection brand in Malaysia with the signing of the Mangala Estate resort in Kuantan.
The British hotel chain currently operates three hotels in Nepal – Holiday Inn Express Kathmandu in Naxal, Holiday Inn Resort Kathmandu in Budhanilkantha, and Intercontinental Pokhara Resort near Begnas Lake.
Siddhartha Hospitality Group and IME Group are also preparing to build five-star properties in Kailali district.
