KATHMANDU: Sudurpashchim Chief Minister Dirgha Sodari’s spouse, Gita, has been convicted of corruption.

A division bench of the Special Court, chaired by Tek Narayan Kunwar and including members Ram Bahadur Thapa and Ritendra Thapa, found Gita guilty of using fake academic certificates to secure a teaching job at a community school in Dhangadhi.

The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) had filed a corruption case against Gita after receiving a complaint that she used a Grade 10 examination certificate from the Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi, for her higher education and to land a government job.
